The Corks at The Brewing Experience

A new synthetic cork from Neocork Technologies is now available at the Brewing Experience. You many have noticed that these new corks are now being used by some of the better wineries in France, Germany, California, New Zealand, and Australia.

In recent years, the quality of traditional corks has deteriorated due to increased demand and reduced supply. As a result, wine spoilage was running from two to ten percent.

These new corks not only eliminate cork taint, they also ensure ease of extraction. This is just another example of The Brewing Experience bringing you the best of the new and the traditional.

Through extensive research, Neocork Technologies has determined that the best way to produce a cork that is both resilient and resistant to damage is a co-extrusion process that uses two different materials.

Co-extrusion is a continuous process which involves tight processing parameters that allow continuous measuring and monitoring. Traditional batch processing, by contrast, attempts to isolate and remove bad products after a batch is made.

With Neocork's continuous co-extrusion process, the inner foam core is a highly resilient foamed inert resin. It allows Neocork to maintain pressure against the neck of the bottle over a long period of time. The outer surface is a more elastic material that is resistant to cuts and wrinkles caused by standard cork insertion machinery. Working like a gasket, it forms a smooth seal with the bottle wall, allowing easy extraction and reinsertion.
